Celebrity appoints new culinary expert
After a vigorous, six-month search, Celebrity Cruises recently announced the hiring of noted chef and culinary expert Elizabeth Blau to manage the fleet's onboard menus and food preparation activities. Blau comes from Las Vegas, where she ran a food company that created original cuisine for the finest hotels in the city. This included establishing exceptional food-and-beverage concepts for the new Wynn Hotel, which had already culled a reputation as one of Sin City's finest hotels even before it opened. Blau promises to continue the tradition of legendary Celebrity chef Michel Roux who, in addition to managing the line's onboard menus and preparation, also sold his own products on Celebrity ships, from meat cleavers to a designer stove.
Regent Seven Seas Cruises offers more voyages to white continent
More cruisers will have the chance to experience the start beauty and unique wildlife of Antarctica later this year and into next. This thanks to Regent Seven Seas Cruises, which added four new cruises to the White Continent aboard the Explorer II. Guests yearning to explore the largely unknown continent can choose from three new 2007 departure dates, November 8 and 24, and December 20, as well as February 25, 2008. Each cruise departs from Tierra del Fuego, Ushuaia, Argentina, known as the "end of the world." The above dates are in addition to previously sold-out departures on January 21 and February 1, 2008. After departing, the Explorer II will cross the Atlantic to the shores of the Falkland Islands, followed by the awe-inspiring glacial coastline of the South Shetland Islands and mountainous peaks of the Antarctic Peninsula. The ship then follows Cape Horn, through the Drake Passage and then returns to Ushuaia. The four new cruises take place during the region's summer seasons, allowing for milder temperatures, longer days and unrivaled wildlife viewing. During the voyages, Regent will host a variety of enrichment programs for guests centered on Antarctica.
